The underside of the variator brake consists of a polychloroprene rubber compound with a fibre reinforcement diagonal to the direction of movement. The high quality and highly stretchable polyester or armid cord is embedded in a rubber compound. The cord is further reinforced by a woven coating and by the lower part of the strap. The lower part of the strap provides good transverse stiffness thanks to diagonal fibres, without losing its flexibility.
